Feelings. Emotions. All that is going on inside. They are the starting place. Any action we take {including meltdowns, yelling, lashing out} stems from what we feel. The more they {and we} are able to name feelings, the better they can manage their feelings, the better they can handle any situation.

Feelings, nothing more than feelings.

When emotions get big, stop. Grab the list. Help your child find what they are feeling. Empathize. Connect. And go from there.
